Psalm 59:1-17
Despite Saul had thousands of soldiers to pursue David. David used his secret weapon – prayer to defend himself from his enemies.
He identified God as an Almighty God who is his deliverer V.1-2;
God is his strength v.9, 16, 17, fortress v.16-17 and refuge in times of trouble. V.16
He asked God to: 1) Go before him v.10; 2) To uproot and bring his enemies down v.11.
If there was no Saul appeared in David’s life, David might not experience God’s deliverance. God delivers us from lay-off, loss of a baby, heart broken relationship, financial hardship and all other heartaches. We must go through these pains in order to experience His deliverance.
The violent and unjust death of our Savior on the cross only lead us to His uttermost deliverance from the bondage of sins.
We may not know why bad things happen in our lives, but we can be sure that Holy Spirit who dwell inside us will guide, comfort, protect and teach us to walk in this earthly journey.
Matthew 1:1-25
Matthew chapter 1 is an interesting genealogy. It recorded Jesus Christ’s ancestors with women’s names.
Tamar who portrayed as a prostitute in order to have a relationship with her father-in-law, Jacob. Rehab a prostitute, Ruth a gentile woman, Abigail, who husband got murdered and married to King David.
The most amazing part is virgin Mary who conceived the Messiah through the Holy Spirit before she married to her fiance, Joseph.
Joseph, in the line of King David became the earthly father of Jesus. Jesus bears the three titles of the Messiah, the savior and Immanuel.
I have the following comments.
First, God loves us despite our past failures.
Second, God saves us even when we think we do not deserve it.
Third, when God acts, all things are possible to fulfill His perfect plan for mankind. —- Alan Yam
