Isaiah 50:1-11; 51:1-23
As I started reading these two chapters, I found an interesting parallel between the two chapters. I have no claim to history or biblical scholars, this was just my view Maybe someone will relate and be blessed.
(50:4) The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.
No greater joy or responsibility than to teach or instruct God’s people.
(51:4) Listen to me, my people; hear me, my nation: Instruction will go out from me; my justice will become a light to the nations.
Listen to our God for instruction – it will bring light to us as a nation
(50:5) The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears; I have not been rebellious, I have not turned away.
Pray God will open our eyes to his instruction
(51: 6) Lift up your eyes to the heavens
Look or seek God
(50:7) Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced.
Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame.
(51:1) Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord:
Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn;
Many times our Lord is referred to as our “rock”
Our place of strength, our fortress
(50:8,9) He who vindicates me is near. Who then will bring charges against me?
Let us face each other! Who is my accuser? Let him confront me!
It is the Sovereign Lord who vindicates me. Who will condemn me?
They will all wear out like a garment; the moths will eat them up.
Who can bring judgement against me or condemn me ?
(51:7,8) Hear me, you who know what is right, you people who have taken my instruction to heart: Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals or be terrified by their insults.
For the moth will eat them up like a garment; the worm will devour them like wool. But my righteousness will last forever, my salvation through all generations.
Listen to the instructions of the Lord, seek Him.
He will bring us strength and shield us in times of trouble.
