Jeremiah 30:1-24

In nursing home, a therapist writes a restorative nursing program after a patient is discharged from rehabilitation service. A trained nurse aide follows the therapist’s plan to continue exercise and self care program in order to maintain the patient’s level of functions. The goal of the restorative nursing program is to extend patient’s quality of life in nursing home.  In the book of Jeremiah chapter 30, the word ‘restore’ appears three times (v3…restore them to the land, v 17…restore you to health and v18… I will restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tent).  Also, God, himself will bring His people back from captivity v3, He will save them v10-11, discipline them v11, struck them v14, add to their numbers and bring them honor v 19, and punished all who oppress them v20.

The ultimate goal of His restoration is to bring His people close to Him and devote themselves to Him v21. So, you will be my people and I will be your God v22.

Everything comes from our God including both blessings and punishments. He is a sovereign God. He is ultimately responsible for everything happens in our live. He only has one goal: to help us recognizing His sovereignty. In verse 24, “The fierce anger of the Lord will not turn back until he fully accomplishes the purposes of his heart. In day to come, you will understand this.” God wants us to know that He governs and plans all things. He has purposes in everything (human and nature) in order to help us acknowledging Him as our only true God. He governs our health, fortunes, land, relationship, sickness and sufferings. Let us put on God’s spectacle to see His purposes (blessings and curses) in our live and give our praises to Him.

Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will return. The LORD gave and the LORD had taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised. Job 1:21 —Alan Yam
