Isaiah 19:1-25

Most people may agree with these statements ‘One more friend, one less enemy’; or ‘keep your friends close and your enemies closer.’

In Chapter 19, Prophet Isaiah foretold Israel’s enemy, Egypt would be punished by civil war, a cruel ruler, foolish counselors/leaders, drought, famine and plague. Then he also foretold both Egypt and Assyria would become partners in both economical and spiritual realms. They even traded among each other and worship the same God. Egypt, Assyria and Israel will become a blessing on the earth.

God’s grace reaches beyond our understanding. Isn’t it one of the reasons why God want us to pray for our enemies? God can extend His grace to our enemies so that they can be a blessings to others.

I noticed that when God put judgment on a country, the people turned away from wise counsel to idols, charmers, mediums and sorcerers. God also may choose a cruel leader or foolish counsels to punish the people.

It doesn’t matter if you are a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green, or Constitution parties, there are times we can settle our differences and extend our grace to each others. The most importance thing of all is that God has the sovereignty to choose both good or bad leader(s). We should always turn to God’s words. Only God’s words to provide good counsel to His people at all times.         — Alan Yam
