John 19:1-42

We have reached John’s account of the crucifixion and burial of Jesus. John once again recorded the incident in ways the Israelites could understand. One of these ways is to quote the Old Testament the Israelites are familiar with (v. 24, 36, 37). John does this in hopes to resonate and give credibility to Jesus and His acts…He indeed IS the Messiah! What Jesus did on the cross was in line with Old Testament prophecies. At this time, all of the mysterious parables Jesus spoke in the previous chapters of John all points to this moment, and later on after the resurrection.

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,

Yet He did not open His mouth;

Like a lamb that is led to slaughter,

And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers,

So He did not open His mouth.

The verse above clearly described what happened in our passage doesn’t it? Yet, it was drawn directly from Isaiah 53:7 in the Old Testament, a time way before Jesus came to the earth.

The Bible speaks in miraculous way in our heart. Once you see how God reveal His Godliness through His Words you will likely grow firmer in Him.
